Mission
To deliver the insights and ideas that empower European decision makers to create an environmentally sustainable society that meets human needs. We focus on the 21st-century challenges of climate change, resource degradation, population growth, and poverty by developing and disseminating solid data and innovative strategies for achieving a sustainable society.
History
Worldwatch Institute is an independent research organisation recognised by opinion leaders around the world for its accessible, fact-based analysis of critical global issues. With its headquarters in Washington, D.C., Worldwatch has catalysed effective environmental decision making since 1974.
The Institute decided in 2011 to establish a European office based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Copenhagen was chosen for its role as a leading green capital as well as hosting key environmental research institutions such as the European Environment Agency.
From its key location, Worldwatch Institute Europe will collaborate closely with its partners, bringing important findings from other regions of the world to a European audience while also sharing European experiences with colleagues abroad.
