Position Summary: The Media and Communications Internship is a great opportunity to hone some of the most marketable skills in the communications field. The intern will work closely with the Communications team to support Worldwatch Europe's outreach activities, assists with development of new activities and events, and help in shaping Worldwatch's communication strategy for 2015.

Responsibilities include: drafting articles and opinion pieces, maintaining social media presence, maintaining contact to news outlets, drafting/editing contents for the monthly newsletter, and contributing to fundraising activities to ensure strong communication elements in project proposals.

Interns will have the opportunity to have their articles published in major news outlets, gain experience in writing research and blog articles, do effective reporter outreach, and learn effective social media strategies.

Qualifications:

  • - Academic education in the field of communications, environmental science, sustainability or social science
  • - Excellent writing and communication skills in English, Danish and an additional European language is considered a strong advantage
  • - Experience with social media, web and online research
  • - Experience drafting research articles (opinion editorials a plus)
  • - Interest and knowledge of the environment, sustainability, climate change and good governance
  • - A curiosity about how the environment relates to social, political, and economic realities and a capacity to see connections across fields and specialties
  • - Attention to detail and an ability to carefully and accurately document authoritative sources for all information gathered
  • - Experience with CMS and Mailchimp is a plus
  • - Good social communication skills, a good team player!
  • - Outgoing and vibrant personality, and the desire to work in a diverse, international environment
