Check out the Urban Biodiversity Award Ceremony taking place in Copenhagen on June 9, 2015!

Worldwatch Institute Europe´s URBIA project addresses the urgent need to halt biodiversity loss, and to enhance green infrastructures by communicating to the public and raising awareness about the importance of urban biodiversity as well as engaging main decision makers and stakeholders in the process.

In 2015, we aim to identify Danish success stories in urban biodiversity and green infrastructure initiatives by launching the URBIA Award application on March 16th as a means of acknowledging the merit of exceptional urban green initiatives in Denmark.

With the URBIA Award, we would like to demonstrate to Danish urban citizens that nature conservation in the city is possible, easy, and that citizens are already significantly contributing to their own well-being, in addition to supporting well-functioning ecosystems and biodiversity. Until now, urban biodiversity has not been at the forefront of our agendas but URBIA aims to help change this in Denmark, by creating an effective communication platform and by bringing urban biodiversity in the limelight in hopes of sparking and expanding public interest in biodiversity.
