Position Summary: The website engineer intern is a great opportunity to be an essential piece in the Worldwatch Institute machine. You will play an integral role maintaining the online presence of the organisation, as well as overseeing an upcoming and significant upgrade to the website.

You will be an essential member of the team, with responsibilities which include but are not limited to: managing user accounts and permissions, modifying the "look" of the website, giving technical support to the users of the website and editors of the newsletter. As we are a small and tight-knit team, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to other areas of what we do, including research, strategy, and of course, communications.


  • - Academic education in the field of computer science, mathematics, or other IT-related fields is not compulsory, but highly desirable. Experience in the field can be substituted for lack of qualifications.
  • - Excellent writing and communication skills in English, and another European language is an asset.
  • - Working knowledge of PHP, HTML, and CSS essential. Experience with Wordpress and Drupal CMS also highly desirable.
  • - Working knowledge and proficiency in using Adobe Photoshop or similar image manipulation software is desirable.
  • - Interest and knowledge of the environment, sustainability, climate change, and good governance
  • - Good social communication skills, a good team player!
