Worldwatch Institute Europe is a European environmental think tank in close affiliation with Worldwatch Institute in the US, united in the call for environmental and social transparency and sustainability. From the office in Copenhagen, Worldwatch Institute Europe undertakes public campaigns, research and policy analysis to disclose information at all stages in environmental and sustainability governance, with the goal to improve urban liveability and sustainable development of individuals and communities in Europe.

We are proud of our successes so far, which include awareness raising and research about circular economy, urban sustainability and other pressing environmental issues. We are a young and dedicated organisation with 4-5 part time staff, 2-3 interns and 10-15 volunteers, which are continuously looking for new research opportunities, acheter viagra business development and partnerships.

With momentum gathering all over the Nordic region, we are at an exciting stage of development and are now seeking an Executive Director to be part of formulating and delivering on our strategy to lead Worldwatch Institute Europe towards 2020, supporting our strong brand and reputation as well as ensuring a financial sustainable platform for the coming years.

The Executive Director will have the primary responsibility for day-to-day management and administration of the office in Copenhagen. The ED shall be responsible to the Board of Directors and shall submit an annual report setting forth the work of the organisation during the year, its financial operations and status, and a budget for the ensuing year. In addition, the ED will be responsible in the following areas:

  • - Manage, coordinate and recruit staff, interns and volunteers at the office in Copenhagen;
  • - Instruct the Finance Manager on financial matters such as book-keeping, salary payrolls and money transfers;
  • - Assist the Head of Fundraising with coordinating and initiating fundraising initiatives;
  • - Represent Worldwatch Institute Europe at external meetings, conferences and events in coordination with staff;
  • - Call for office meetings as appropriate and ensure exchange of information between staff, interns and volunteers;
  • - Contribute to project coordination and management of on-going research projects.

We are seeking candidates with senior leadership experience and the strategic and analytical skills necessary to coordinate the work of a small but impact-full green think tank. You must be able to work effectively across a range of stakeholders including government and the private sector.

Your personal presence, communication and influencing skills shall help advance Worldwatch’s agenda in a high-level advocacy environment as an ambassador for our cause.

Managing coalition dynamics effectively will require integrity, diplomacy, judgement, and the ability to understand and navigate complexity. Above all, you must be passionate about our mission and have a genuine belief in the role that civil society can play to affect sustainability change.
